How to consume Himalaya (pink) Salt

HIMALAYAN or PINK SALT has become very popular recently BUT do you know how to consume it properly for maximum health benefits? Mostly doctors & science do not consider it better than table salt(iodized salt).
In Ayurveda there are five salts described but Himalayan (pink) salt (Saindhav lavan) is considered as best & purest salt for daily consumption. It is true that all salt contain approx 97%-98% sodium chloride including Himalayan (pink) salt.

Why Himalayan (pink) salt is better than iodized salt?

Well, first of all sea salt undergoes refining & bleaching process with chemicals in which it loses its minerals contents. Also drying at 1200 degree Fahrenheit which destroys the natural structure of salt. Further additionally added toxic iodine is not stable & not researched which sometimes may cause overdose of iodine.

While Himalayan salt contains less sodium chloride & iodine along with unadulterated natural minerals e.g magnesium, iodine, zinc, calcium etc. It is hand mined, unbleached & unrefined hence natural minerals present. Therefore it is considered healthiest & purest salt on the planet. As per Ayurveda it has coolant potency with loaded health benefits. It is the only salt which balances all three doshas. Almost all Ayurveda scholars recommended this salt as healthiest one.

Advantage of Himalayan (pink) salt:
– Regulates water content throughout the body.
– Balances pH level.
– Balancing VATA thus good for joint health.
– Balances KAPHA thus good for respiratory issues.
– Coolant in potency thus balances PITTA.
Overall it promotes digestion, eliminates intestinal worms, supports nervous system, helps in sore throat/tonsillitis/sinus/cold/cough, relieves gas/acidity, elevates low blood pressure, aids in weight loss, helps in joint pain/muscles cramps etc.

How to consume Himalayan salt?

Despite number of health benefits & ranking healthiest salt, any salt is not recommended in high dose for blood pressure patients.

If you are a thyroid patient you need to take iodine & also need to avoid overdose of iodine by taking iodized sea salt. Technically thyroid patients should take 75% Himalayan salt mixed 25% fortified iodine sea salt to maintain proper iodine intake. Trace minerals contents in Himalayan salt improves thyroid functions.

However common people with no health issues can consume Himalayan salt on daily basis by mixing 25% fortified iodine sea salt to prevent iodine deficiency.
